1968 Ferrari 166 Dino F2

From the listing for this Ferrari F2 Car for sale:

We are delighted to offer this incredibly rare ex-works Ferrari Formula 2/Tasman single seater.
One of the prettiest single seaters built and driven in period during the 1968 and 1969 season by Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell with great success.
Eligible for Goodwood and many other great events. This is an opportunity to acquire such a special car with an impressive works history – the car has been in its current ownership for 36 years.

The third model 68, s/n 0010, began its career in the European Championship of Formula Two, entrusted for the first four races with Jacky Ickx. Then Derek Bell was contacted at the beginning of June by Keith Ballisat of Shell, to do a test drive for Ferrari at Monza. It took place and the results were good, and Bell was incorporated into the team but without signing a contract. He entered his first race for the Scuderia Ferrari at the G.P. della Latteria, and he gained the pole!

From Ferrari:

In the 1960s, Ferrari continued to fight on various fronts, getting involved in Formula 2 and sports car racing in addition to Formula 1. But it was proving increasingly difficult to keep up this hectic pace. Nonetheless, the Dino 166 built for the 1967 F 2 proved valuable in that it marked the start of a relationship with Fiat that would be further strengthened two years later when Ferrari joined the Turin company. At the time, the international rules stated that F2 engines had to have a cylinder block derived from a car of which at least 500 had been produced – an impossible feat for Ferrari. – See more at: http://formula1.ferrari.com/cars/dino-166-f2#sthash.xQMK5gT9.dpuf
